Youth Cohort Study

The youth population of three PERSIAN Cohort sites, Fasa, Ravansar, rafsanjan and sari will be invited to participate in the Youth Cohort, with a primary focus on mental health and substance use in that population. The Youth Cohort will include 12000 individuals of both genders.

 

General Objectives of the Cohort are as followed:

  1. To determine the annual incidence of common psychiatric disorders in Iran
  2. To determine the risk and protective factors for the incidence of common psychiatric disorders
  3. To determine the course and outcomes of common psychiatric disorders

 

Update on fasa youth cohort study:

After recruitment of 3000 people from  rural and Township inhabitants of the territory, the follow-up phase began at 17 may 2016.
)At this follow-up time all people were recruited again for face-to-face mental status evaluation interview and a structured evaluation of the 4 main targets of the youth cohort study ( MDD, GAD, OCD, Addiction ).
1500 villagers and 1500 citizens of the town where asked to come again in this phase and besides routine mental status examination some extra work ups like electrocardiography and body composition were evaluated.
At May 2019 there has been about 3000 follow up people at cohort. The central string committee supervises daily all the details of the incorporation of the data into the electronic file of every single man or woman in the cohort.
