Non-Communicable Diseases Research Center Ranked Seventh Nationwide

The Deputy for Research and Technology of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education has announced the results of the 2025 performance evaluation of the country’s research centers with more than 10 years of activity. In this evaluation, which was conducted based on rigorous scientific indicators and using international ranking systems, the Non-Communicable Diseases Research Center of Fasa University of Medical Sciences achieved seventh place nationwide.

This valuable achievement is the result of the efforts and collaboration of the faculty members, researchers, and staff of the research center, as well as the support of the officials of Fasa University of Medical Sciences. It represents an important step toward strengthening the center’s scientific standing and contributing to the improvement of community health.

Dr. Elham Zare-Nejad, Head of the Non-Communicable Diseases Research Center, congratulated the team on this achievement and stated: “Achieving seventh place, particularly among research centers with more than 10 years of experience, is a significant accomplishment. Approximately 117 centers met the eligibility criteria for evaluation in this category, many of which have a long history of activity, extensive human resources, and substantial research facilities.

“Some of these centers are based at major and leading universities in the country and have had many years to develop their research infrastructure, scientific networks, and human capital. In contrast, the Non-Communicable Diseases Research Center at Fasa operates with only two permanent faculty members.

“Therefore, one of the important aspects of this ranking is the relationship between scientific performance and available capacity. Despite its limited number of faculty members, the center has achieved substantial scientific output and obtained a favorable score in the knowledge production domain.

“This demonstrates that the center’s performance evaluation is not merely the result of increasing the number of activities; rather, scientific productivity and efficiency have also played an important role.”

Dr. Mojtaba Farjam, Deputy for Research and Technology, added: “The center has secured a place among the top seven research centers in the country under circumstances in which many of its competitors have two or three decades of experience, are based at major and leading universities, and benefit from larger numbers of faculty members, more extensive infrastructure, and, in some cases, dedicated budget allocations. The Fasa center, however, has entered this competition with only two permanent faculty members and limited financial resources from the university.”
